About the Competition

This is the UK’s foremost event dedicated to choral conducting. Curated by Chantage and Coro, two of London's premier chamber choirs, the inaugural LICCC took place in 2018 during a weekend-long festival featuring masterclasses and a Gala Concert by the resident choirs and our International Guest Choir. Prizes were awarded to two outstanding emerging conductors whose subsequent successes have underlined the arrival of LICCC as a significant part of the European choral fraternity.

Welcome to the London International Choral Conducting Competition. We are tremendously excited to introduce you to the first post-pandemic edition of a choral music festival which turns the spotlight first onto the choral singing for which London is rightly world famous (in a three-choir Gala Concert) and then onto the next generation of choral conductors, who will compete for a generous prize, adjudicated by a distinguished international panel, in the splendid surroundings of London’s Royal Academy of Music.

Our 2024 festival is once more curated by Chantage and Coro, two of London’s best-known chamber choirs and they will again be joined by a Guest Choir from overseas.

Whether your preference is for classes given by the finest choral conducting practitioners, for the formality of our splendid Gala Concert – or simply for the thrill of the contest, there will be something in November for every connoisseur of the choral arts.
