This is the UK’s first such event dedicated to choral conducting. Curated by Chantage and Coro, two of London's premier chamber choirs, the inaugural LICCC took place during a weekend-long festival featuring masterclasses and a Gala Concert by the resident choirs and our International Guest Choir, FREIA of Finland.

Welcome to the inaugural London International Choral Conducting Competition. We are tremendously excited to introduce a new kind of choral music festival which turns the spotlight first on the choral singing for which London is rightly world famous (in a three-choir Gala Concert) and then on the next generation of choral conductors, who will compete for a generous prize, adjudicated by a distinguished international panel, in the splendid surroundings of London’s Royal Academy of Music.

Our biennial festival is curated by Chantage and Coro, two of London’s best-known chamber choirs and, at each festival, they will be joined by a Guest Choir from overseas. The Guest Choir for LICCC 2018 was the chamber choir ccFREIA from Helsinki, Finland, directed by renowned composer and conductor Jaakko Mantyjarvi, who will present performances of Jaakko’s own works, many of which have become great favourites of chamber choirs the world over.
