The 2024 competition

Find out more about competing in the London International Choral Conducting Competition 2024.

Taking place in London between 31 October and 3 November, the world's best emerging conductors will compete in a series of rounds to win the title. 

How to apply

Curated by Coro and Chantage, two of London’s premier chamber choirs, the multi-day event will revolve around two interlocking threads:
​

• a high quality competition for emerging choral conductors. The winner, chosen by a distinguished international jury and the choirs themselves, will receive a valuable cash prize.
• a Gala Concert by Chantage, Coro and our guest choirs, in the splendid Duke’s Hall at the Royal Academy of Music

 
This ground-breaking initiative will lend a significant boost to a conductor in the early stages of their career, and is open to international entries.
 
The competition consists of four rounds:

• A video round, adjudicated by three judges. Participants are invited to apply by sending in a video. Competitors will be notified of the results of the video competition round via email by Friday 28 June 2024.
• A sacred music round, in which 15 competitors will work with professional choir, Tenebrae on 31 October 2024
• A UK women composers’ round on 2 November 2024 where the same 15 competitors will be adjudicated in a rehearsal and performance of a set piece.
• A Grand Final on 3 November 2024, in which five short-listed competitors will compete for the overall prize, adjudicated by an international jury of five judges.

The application deadline is Saturday 15 June 2024. Applications are now closed.

LICCC 2018, the inaugural edition of the London International Choral Conducting Competition, was won by Julia Selina Blank of Germany.
